Overview

The Pangkalan Susu LPG Terminal is a strategic LPG distribution hub in North Sumatra supporting Pertamina's energy supply chain. The terminal features two main jetties (Jetty C and Jetty D), a Small Craft facility, a firefighting system, oil spill response equipment, VHF communications, and compulsory pilotage services. The navigation area features a muddy seabed with mixed tidal conditions, and a designated Pilot Boarding Ground (PBG) is available as a vessel waiting area before terminal entry.

Port Regulations

PPE Requirement

Full PPE required (helmet, shoes, coverall, glasses, gloves). Life jackets mandatory on the jetty/waterfront.

Smoking Regulation

Permitted only in designated areas. Strictly prohibited at the jetty, manifold, LPG storage, and operational zones.

Safety Inspection

Vessels must clear the Ship/Shore Safety Checklist, document reviews, and pre-cargo safety inspections.

Pollution Prevention

Marine pollution prevention is mandatory. Terminal equipped with Pertamina-standard response gear (Oil Boom, Skimmer, Temporary Tank, Sorbent, Dispersant).

Communication

Communications via VHF Channels 09 (156.45 MHz) and 12 (156.60 MHz) to coordinate with Pilot, Terminal, KSOP, and port authorities.

Berthing Safety

Vessels must follow terminal mooring arrangements, maintain lines in good condition, and provide continuous crew monitoring while berthed.
