Pertamina Oil Terminal Bitung is a private terminal owned by PT Pertamina (Persero) – Marketing Operation Region VII, and operated by Pertamina Marine Region VII Bitung. The terminal has three pile-supported concrete jetties situated along the Sulawesi Sea, capable of loading, unloading, and bunkering vessels.

Overview

Pertamina Oil Terminal Bitung is a private terminal owned by PT Pertamina (Persero) – Marketing Operation Region VII, operated by Pertamina Marine Region VII Bitung. It comprises three jetties along the Sulawesi Sea capable of loading, unloading, and bunkering. Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 500 GT, and the entrance channel is 5 miles long, 900 meters wide, with depths ranging from 8 to 30 meters.

Port Regulations

PPE Requirement

Contractors must follow Pertamina Marine Bitung's PPE policy on the berth: hard hat, safety shoes, coverall, and life vest. Vessel crew may follow their own company's PPE policy while onboard.

Smoking Regulation

Smoking is prohibited within the entire terminal property.

Safety Inspection

All ships and barges must comply with state and Pertamina regulations. Vessels failing a Pertamina Marine Terminal Safety Inspection, or found unfit to transfer product, may be asked to leave the berth.

Pollution Prevention

Vessels must plug all scuppers and drains before transfer to prevent spills from draining into the sea, and must maintain sufficient means of cleaning up any oil on deck.

Communication

A handheld UHF radio on Channel 9 is issued to the vessel's Person in Charge (PIC) during the pre-transfer conference; radio checks must be conducted hourly.

Berthing Safety

Vessels must approach the dock at an angle of 5° or less, with approach velocity not exceeding 0.3 knots (0.19 knots for Berth I). Hand steering is mandatory; autopilot is prohibited unless permitted by the terminal.
